Senior Medical Connectivity Test Engineer
Remote-first, Hungary, Full-time or Part-time
We are looking for a Senior Medical Connectivity Test Engineer to verify, validate, and optimize connectivity solutions for complex medical devices and digital health systems. In this role, you will work closely with software, hardware, product, regulatory, and clinical teams to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant communication across medical devices, cloud platforms, mobile applications, and third-party healthcare systems.
This is a hands-on senior test engineering position for someone who enjoys investigating complex integration challenges, designing comprehensive test strategies, and ensuring reliable data exchange across modern medical ecosystems. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality connected healthcare solutions while helping shape testing best practices, automation strategies, and quality standards across the organization.

What we are looking for
You are an experienced test engineer with a strong background in connectivity testing, hardware/software integration, and system validation. You enjoy working across software and hardware boundaries, investigating complex communication issues, and developing effective test approaches for distributed systems.
You are comfortable working in regulated environments and understand the importance of reliability, traceability, risk-based testing, and validation in medical technology. You take ownership, work proactively, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience testing connected medical devices, embedded systems, cloud platforms, or healthcare interoperability solutions is highly valued.

What you will do
- Design, develop, and execute test strategies for connectivity features across medical devices, embedded systems, cloud platforms, and mobile applications
- Verify reliable communication between software, hardware, and third-party healthcare systems
- Develop and maintain manual and automated test cases for connectivity, integration, and end-to-end system validation
- Validate APIs, communication services, data synchronization mechanisms, and interoperability between connected components
- Investigate and troubleshoot connectivity issues across networking, embedded devices, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to validate device communication, interfaces, and hardware integration
- Work with software engineers to verify end-to-end functionality, reliability, and robustness of connectivity solutions
- Perform system, integration, regression, and exploratory testing throughout the product lifecycle
- Design and execute performance, reliability, stress, and long-duration tests for connected medical systems
- Support verification and validation activities in accordance with applicable medical device quality standards
- Participate in root cause analysis, defect investigation, and resolution of complex system-level issues
- Collaborate with regulatory and clinical teams to ensure verification activities meet applicable quality and compliance requirements
- Contribute to test documentation, traceability, verification reports, and technical specifications
- Improve test automation frameworks, testing methodologies, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Help establish engineering best practices for connectivity testing, interoperability validation, and quality assurance
You should have
- 8+ years of experience in software testing, system integration testing, connectivity testing, or hardware/software validation
- Strong experience testing distributed systems and communication services
- Experience validating software integrated with hardware or embedded systems
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and communication protocols
- Experience testing Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, MQTT, WebSockets, REST APIs, gRPC, or similar technologies
- Experience validating communication between connected devices and cloud platforms
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and network layers
- Experience testing complex integrations involving backend services, mobile applications, and connected devices
- Understanding of system architecture, reliability engineering, and verification methodologies
- Experience developing automated tests using modern test frameworks and scripting languages
- Familiarity with test management, defect tracking, and requirements traceability tools
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership
- Ability to work remotely with availability during our core collaboration hours (2:00–6:00 PM CET)
- Professional working proficiency in English
Nice to have
- Experience in the medical device industry or digital health
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, or DICOM
- Experience testing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, FDA, MDR, or other regulated development frameworks
- Experience testing embedded Linux or RTOS-based systems
- Knowledge of cybersecurity testing principles for connected medical devices
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and continuous testing practices
- Experience with IoT or connected medical ecosystems
- Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, USB analyzers, serial communication tools, or network packet capture
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field
